Blizzard Entertainment opened its presentation with a sweeping wave of announcements covering the entire Warcraft universe. The studio showcased the next chapters for modern World of Warcraft, shadow dropped an unexpected campaign for Warcraft III Reforged, and revealed a brand new classic experience titled World of Warcraft Forever. The strategy updates are playable right now, while the new role playing modes will launch later this year.
The mainline story is now approaching the midpoint of its multi expansion narrative arc. The upcoming World of Warcraft update titled Eclipse, marked as version 12.2, focuses on the villain Xalatath closing in on the core of Azeroth. Blizzard also gave attendees an early glimpse of The Last Titan. This final chapter will wrap up more than 20 years of continuous lore before steering the franchise into its next narrative phase.
In a move that caught strategy fans off guard, Blizzard launched a completely new story campaign for Warcraft III Reforged. This marks the first official narrative expansion for the strategy title in over 23 years. Titled The Forsaken Kingdom, the campaign explores the collapse of Lordaeron and the rise of the Undercity. The content is available immediately through the 3.0 update, which brings a visual overhaul and an updated World Editor. Players on Xbox Game Pass can download the base game directly and only need to purchase the standalone campaign expansion to play.
Blizzard also revealed World of Warcraft Forever, introducing a 3rd standalone option alongside the standard modern and classic formats. The mode returns to the original era of the game world while adding previously unseen content. It includes 3 fresh zones, over 1000 quests, 9 dungeons, and 2 full raids. Players will also get access to the Skyborne as a playable race. Beta testing begins in September, with the full global release scheduled for November.
