Genigods Nezha Showcases Aerial Combat and Weapon Swapping at Tokyo Game Show

Chinese action RPG Genigods Nezha resurfaced during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show showcase with a fresh look at its gameplay systems. The upcoming title combines aerial combat and shifting weaponry with environments inspired by ancient creation myths. Developer Genigods Lab confirmed the game is heading to PC and Xbox platforms, though Microsoft currently lists the launch window simply as coming soon.

The campaign puts players in control of the Spirit Pearl, a primal essence created by the goddess Nuwa that reincarnates into the legendary warrior Nezha. The adventure takes place across a world constructed from the physical remains of the giant Pangu. Producer Young and creative director Erdi explained during the broadcast that the story centers on themes of defiance, life, and rebirth, aiming to integrate the ancient folklore directly into the narrative rather than using it as background scenery.

Combat takes heavily to the skies. The newly shared footage highlighted Nezha fighting enemies in mid air while wielding 7 distinct relics that change shapes during battle encounters. This equipment swapping mechanic allows players to alter their attack profiles instantly to counter different monster types and aerial threats. The diary showed how fluid transitions between weapon forms serve as the foundation for handling complex encounters.

Development is being handled by Genigods Lab, a studio bringing roughly 20 years of collective industry experience to the production. The title is scheduled to launch on Steam as well as Xbox on PC and Xbox Series X and S consoles. It will also feature Xbox Play Anywhere support, allowing digital owners to share save progress and access across console and computer hardware. An exact launch date remains unannounced.
