Hygon 1000 Processors Expand C86 Silicon to Embedded Edge Systems

Hygon Information has released the Hygon 1000 series processor lineup, introducing lightweight C86 architecture designed for embedded systems and edge computing. The new platform brings hardware security, integrated graphics, and low power operation to industrial and field deployments. It marks the first time the company has pushed its computing architecture from data center servers straight into compact terminal devices.

Hygon 1000 Processors Expand C86 Silicon to Embedded Edge Systems

Hygon previously organized its silicon into 3 distinct tiers: the flagship 7000 line, the mid tier 5000 series, and the value focused 3000 processors. The newly introduced 1000 tier targets the lower power bracket where energy efficiency matters most. Hygon Information president Sha Chaoqun clarified that the 1000 series is not a single product. It is a family of hardware that balances CPU, GPU, and NPU workloads across different commercial scenarios.

The 1000 series is our first computing chip built for edge intelligence, marking the expansion of our computing map from the cloud to the edge and terminal.

Security is baked directly into the silicon architecture. The platform supports native cryptographic algorithms, ECC memory error correction, a dedicated security coprocessor, and hardware level encryption acceleration. These safeguards help protect sensitive infrastructure from unauthorized access in remote locations.

Display and media processing get a major boost as well. The integrated graphics engine supports dual channel 4K 60 video output alongside hardware decoding and encoding for common video formats. On the connectivity side, the platform works with PCIe 4.0 buses, Time Sensitive Networking protocols, and both DDR4 and DDR5 memory modules. Because the hardware builds upon the established C86 software environment, engineering teams can deploy systems quickly without rewriting their existing software from scratch.

These chips are built to withstand tough industrial settings with support for wide operational temperature ranges and long production lifecycles. Target use cases include factory automation, transportation hubs, power utility grids, network edge appliances, and industrial robotics. Alongside the product launch, Hygon initiated a joint partner ecosystem plan with industrial hardware vendors to speed up software adaptation and joint hardware validation across the sector.
