MediaTek has introduced the Dimensity CX C10 Max, a flagship processor engineered specifically for Googlebook laptops. The chip combines an 8 core All Big Core CPU with an NPU delivering 55 TOPS to run local AI workloads without cloud reliance. But the company has yet to confirm when the first commercial laptops will hit retail shelves.
Built on a second generation 3 nanometer process, the silicon is designed to challenge existing laptop platforms from Qualcomm and Apple. The CPU uses an 8 core configuration featuring 1 prime Cortex X925 core reaching 3.73 GHz, 3 Cortex X4 cores, and 4 Cortex A720 cores. Graphics duties are handled by an 11 core ARM Immortalis G925 GPU. Memory bandwidth reaches 9600 Mbps on LPDDR5X RAM, backed by 12MB of L3 cache, 10MB of system cache, and fast UFS 4.0 storage. It can power an internal 4K display at 60 Hz while driving up to 2 additional 4K external monitors.
Local machine learning is the main focus of this platform. The integrated NPU 890 handles up to 55 TOPS of compute, supporting precision formats like INT8, INT16, FP16, and BF16. MediaTek built this hardware to run Gemini Intelligence locally. That means users can run multimodal assistants, live voice transcription, and automated text summaries directly on their laptops without an active internet connection. The architecture maintains power efficiency to avoid heavy thermal throttling under extended processing loads.
For video calls and streaming, the platform integrates the Imagiq 1090 image signal processor with support for cameras up to 32MP. It provides real time electronic stabilization, automatic framing, and active subject tracking during meetings. While the technical capabilities look promising on paper, consumers will have to wait for hardware partners to reveal official laptop designs and retail pricing.
