MediaTek has announced the Dimensity 9600 Pro, setting a major hardware benchmark as the first mobile chipset built on a 2nm process node. The flagship silicon combines an all big core CPU layout with dedicated hardware for agentic artificial intelligence and console level gaming. The platform is designed to power the next wave of premium smartphones.

AI is central to the smartphone experience, and devices need greater performance, efficiency, and intelligence to keep pace with rapidly evolving user demands. The Dimensity 9600 Pro meets these demands with a Native AI architecture and dual improvement in performance and power efficiency to deliver new agentic AI experiences.
The silicon completely abandons small efficiency cores. Instead, the CPU clusters 8 high performance cores in a 2 plus 3 plus 3 configuration. This setup features 2 C2 Ultra cores clocked at 4.55GHz, 3 C2 Pro cores running at 4.35GHz, and 3 C2 Pro cores running at 3.1GHz. Single core performance increases by 17% while multi core speeds rise by 15%. Power demands drop substantially. Multi core power consumption is reduced by 61% compared to previous hardware generations.
On device AI tasks run on a dual NPU configuration managed by the Agentic AI Engine. The primary NPU 1090 can process models with up to 30B parameters. It delivers a 51% increase in large language model prefill speeds alongside a 55% jump in token generation per watt. A secondary low power NPU handles always on background tasks with 40% less battery draw. System memory sees a major upgrade with support for LPDDR6 RAM, UFS 5.0 flash storage, and a large 34.5MB cache pool.
Mobile graphics are powered by the new G2 Ultra NX GPU. The graphics unit delivers 27% higher peak performance, 18% faster ray tracing speeds, and frame rates up to 185fps while cutting peak energy draw by 24%. MediaTek Neural Graphics Architecture coordinates the GPU and AI silicon to sharpen visual output during heavy gaming sessions.
Camera capabilities center on the Imagiq 1290 ISP combined with AI imaging hardware. The system supports 4K video capture at 240fps for ultra slow motion recordings. Mobile photographers also gain access to 4K60 AI True Color Tone, 4K120 cinematic log recording, and 17EV exposure ranges for high dynamic range imagery.
