
Minisforum has announced the MS S1 MAX P495 at IFA 2026, a compact workstation running on AMD Ryzen AI Max Plus PRO 495 silicon. The mini PC packs up to 192GB of LPDDR5X memory to run massive 300B parameter models locally on a desk. But pricing is steep, with early store listings pointing to a cost north of $7,000.
Running local machine learning models at this scale produces serious heat. To keep thermals under control, the system uses a cooling setup with phase change TIM, 6 heat pipes, and 2 fans. This thermal module sustains 120W of continuous power delivery, with peaks reaching 160W. Power comes from an internal 320W supply. The hardware also supports multi unit cluster setups for teams that need to link several systems together.
Port selection on the workstation covers demanding bandwidth requirements. The board includes a full length PCIe Gen4 x4 expansion slot, USB4 v2, and Wi Fi 7 wireless connectivity. For wired network environments, Minisforum added dual 10GbE ethernet jacks. According to reporting by IT Home, the official Minisforum website lists the price as a 4 digit number starting with 7, confirming that retail configurations will reach well into premium workstation territory.

Minisforum also showed off a second device using the exact same AMD processor. Named the N5 MAX P495, this unit is marketed as an AI agent NAS. It is built to serve as dedicated local storage and compute infrastructure for enterprise knowledge bases and continuous agent workflows.
