Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Tab S12 and Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra, refreshing its flagship tablet lineup with large AMOLED displays and Galaxy AI software. Powered by the 3nm MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor, both slates feature ultra slim aluminum builds, bundled S Pens, and promised support for 7 generations of operating system upgrades.
The larger Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra carries a 14.6 inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with a 2960x1848 resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness levels reaching 1600 nits. The Galaxy Tab S12 Plus opts for a 12.6 inch panel running at 2800x1752 pixels with the exact same brightness and refresh rate capabilities. Both screens feature Vision Booster to automatically adjust contrast under harsh sunlight, backed by a 4 channel spatial audio setup for media playback.
Samsung managed to shave the physical profile down to 5.1 millimeters on the Ultra, which weighs 692 grams in its Wi Fi configuration. The Plus model measures 5.3 millimeters thick and weighs 553 grams. Both tablets hold full IP68 water and dust resistance ratings for everyday durability.
Under the hood, both devices run on the 3nm MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset. To manage heat during long gaming or multitasking sessions, Samsung installed a newly designed 3D vapor chamber. Battery life reaches up to 23 hours on the Ultra and 21 hours on the Plus variant. When the battery runs low, 45W fast charging tops up the cell in roughly 95 minutes.
Connectivity options differ slightly between the 2 sizes. The Ultra model gets Wi Fi 7 support, while the Plus model includes Wi Fi 6E. Both models feature Bluetooth 6.0, optional 5G connectivity, and expandable storage up to 2TB via a microSD card slot.
Software duties are handled by Android 17 running One UI 9. Multi Window allows users to divide the screen into 3 separate working zones for simultaneous app use. Samsung is backing the hardware with 7 generations of Android OS and security upgrades. Everyday productivity tools include Note Assist for transcript summaries and an updated Samsung Browser that can summarize information across multiple open web tabs.
On the rear, the Ultra packs a 13 MP main camera alongside an 8 MP ultrawide sensor, while the Plus gets a single 13 MP camera. Both tablets carry a 12 MP wide angle camera on the front for video calls. Every unit ships with an S Pen inside the box, though accessories like the Pro Keyboard and Book Cover Keyboard Slim remain separate purchases.
The Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra is available with 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage, alongside a top tier 16GB RAM and 1TB storage configuration. The Galaxy Tab S12 Plus comes in 12GB RAM with either 256GB or 512GB of onboard storage.
