AMD has released the AMD Software Adrenalin Edition 26.10.2 Optional graphics driver targeting stability across multiple hardware generations. The update focuses on bug resolutions, correcting random system shutdowns in Valor Mortis and application hangs during Death Stranding 2 sessions on newer hardware. The package is available for 64 bit Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems, while general users can remain on the standard recommended release.
AMD fixed system crashes and sudden power cutoffs affecting specific cards and processors. Radeon RX 7600 graphics cards and Ryzen AI MAX PRO 400 processors no longer experience sudden system shutdowns when running Valor Mortis or Final Fantasy Resonance. The driver also resolves driver timeouts on Radeon RX 7000 cards during Valor Mortis sessions and during video playback with Windows 11 hardware accelerated GPU scheduling turned on. Overlay conflicts between the AMD software metric tracker and third party overlays like Xbox Game Bar are resolved to prevent game crashes.
Graphics stability during frame generation also received targeted corrections. Radeon RX 9000 series cards running Death Stranding 2 On The Beach with AMD FSR enabled no longer suffer from unexpected hangs. The update also stops crashes caused by switching applications while running FSR frame generation on RX 9000 hardware. Additional resolved issues include launch crashes in the Steam client, game crashes following an AMD Cleanup Utility run on Windows 10, and installer detection errors for optional driver builds.
Several visual bugs and driver timeouts remain open for future patches. Players running Phantom Blade Zero on Radeon RX 9000 cards may notice graphical glitches across sky textures and character hair, which users can avoid by disabling high quality hair settings. Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced exhibits driver timeouts on RX 7000 cards. For Radeon RX 5000 owners facing driver timeouts in War Thunder, AMD suggests rolling back to driver version 26.9.1.
Multiscreen setups also face specific bugs. Running Cyberpunk 2077 on an RX 9000 card while playing video on a secondary display can trigger crashes if FSR, Radeon Anti Lag, and frame generation are all running at the same time. Turning off frame generation stops the crashing. Ryzen AI Max PRO 400 systems can freeze during Alt Tab commands in Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered, and RX 9000 cards show black screen corruption in the same game. Ryzen AI 9 400 users seeing black screens when launching Gears of War Reloaded should toggle between windowed and fullscreen modes to restore the picture. AMD also notes that Windows 10 setups may disable Smart Access Memory by default after installation.
