Apple plans to update its ultra slim smartphone lineup with the upcoming iPhone Air 2 according to industry insider Digital Chat Station. The second generation device will keep its slender profile while adding a larger battery, a 2 nm processor, and a second rear camera lens. Industry sources expect the phone to arrive in spring 2027 alongside the standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e.
Digital Chat Station reports the phone features a flat 6.55 inch LTPO OLED display running at 1.5K+ resolution with refresh rates up to 120 Hz. Battery capacity increases to approximately 3500 mAh, up from the 3149 mAh cell found in the original model. Real world runtimes will depend on overall component efficiency, but the larger cell offers a physical capacity boost for the thin chassis.
Apple targets an A20 family chip fabricated on a 2 nm process for the updated phone. Moving to this smaller node cuts power consumption while boosting general processing speeds. The camera hardware also expands from 1 rear sensor to 2. The new dual camera system pairs the main 48 MP shooter with a dedicated ultrawide camera, fixing one of the primary hardware limits of the first generation phone.
