Apple has introduced the fourth generation Apple TV 4K, featuring an A19 processor and an upgraded Siri AI interface powered by Apple Intelligence. The streaming box acts as a central smart home hub and adds support for 4 paired HomePod speakers. Pre orders are open now at $299, with retail shipments beginning next month.
The A19 processor replaces the older A15 Bionic, providing 50% faster CPU performance and 2x GPU speeds. Hardware decoding for AV1 video is included to improve streaming playback efficiency across high resolution formats. Beyond running video services, the extra graphical performance supports more demanding games and local machine learning tasks.
Siri AI runs on Apple Intelligence and uses a full screen interface to search for television shows and answer questions about active video streams. When connected to a compatible iPhone, the assistant pulls personal context from text conversations to generate viewing recommendations. 3 microphones built into the streaming box handle voice commands without requiring the physical remote. The Siri Remote retains its previous exterior design but adds precision finding and audio alerts for misplaced units.
The device connects to 4 separate HomePod mini 2 or second generation HomePod speakers for surround sound. The operating system calculates room acoustics and speaker placement automatically to balance audio latency and volume levels. Users must match hardware models across the front and rear speaker pairs. Beyond media playback, the unit manages smart home accessories, displays security camera feeds, and triggers automated routines.
