Citroen Reveals Electric 2CV Concept with 15000 Euro Target Price

Citroen has revealed an all electric concept based on the iconic 2CV, modernizing the classic design with a minimalist interior and a full fabric roof. The automaker aims for a lightweight 1000 kg curb weight and an accessible entry price of roughly 15000 euros. A production version is targeted for 2028, though exact powertrain specifications remain undisclosed.

The concept keeps the rounded profile of the original car built from 1948 to 1990 while altering key dimensions. The front end is taller and more angular, the wheel arches sit lower, and conventional roll down windows replace the vintage flip up glass. Designers retained the large fabric roof that rolls open completely. The overall length is approximately 10 cm shorter than the historic model.

The interior adopts a minimalist layout centered on basic digital controls. A small display mounts directly to the steering column, paired with a wide screen panel facing the driver. Passengers receive a detachable radio and speaker unit. Storage solutions include a central floor basket and dedicated door pockets with molded slots for 6 eggs, directly referencing the original design brief requiring the car to transport fragile cargo across rough fields.

Citroen designed the concept around a strict 1000 kg weight target to reduce battery requirements and control manufacturing expenses. The brand projects a base price of roughly 15000 euros to keep the production version affordable for European buyers. Engineering revisions will continue ahead of the planned 2028 production launch, meaning some concept elements may change before vehicles enter assembly lines.
