Keychron has introduced the Q19 HE 8K, a compact 60% gaming keyboard pairing an aged steampunk aesthetic with high performance magnetic switches. The hardware supports an 8000 Hz polling rate alongside adjustable switch actuation points ranging from 0.1 to 3.5 millimeters. The unit is now available on the US market priced at $255.
The keyboard uses a 6063 aluminum chassis treated with an artificially aged metal finish, custom keycap legends, and an engraved compass on the Escape key. Thick PBT keycaps follow the classic Cherry profile, resting on a base measuring 115.3 by 303.3 millimeters. Despite the compact 60% footprint, the entire assembly weighs nearly 1.5 kg to keep the board firmly anchored to the desk during aggressive typing sessions.
Keychron installs its proprietary Ultra Fast Lime magnetic switches, giving users granular control over keystroke depth. Players can calibrate the trigger point anywhere between 0.1 and 3.5 millimeters per key. The board includes Rapid Trigger technology, resetting the key switch the instant upward movement begins rather than waiting for a full physical reset. Users can also map up to 4 distinct actions to 1 key depending on travel depth, such as walking on a light press and sprinting on a deep press.
Wired connectivity runs through a USB Type C cable delivering an 8000 Hz polling rate for minimal input latency. Each switch features independent RGB backlighting with 22 preset lighting modes. System settings are managed directly through the Keychron Launcher web interface, allowing adjustments to actuation sensitivity, custom macros, and key assignments without installing desktop programs. The hardware works with Windows, macOS, and Linux, and includes extra macOS keycaps in the box. The circuit board supports hot swap replacement, though compatibility is limited exclusively to Keychron Ultra Fast Lime magnetic switches.
