Paramount Developing Cyberpunk 2077 Movie with Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura

Paramount Pictures has greenlit a live action feature film adaptation of Cyberpunk 2077 with veteran Hollywood producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura attached. The production follows the success of the animated Cyberpunk Edgerunners series and arrives as the video game surpasses 40,000,000 copies sold globally. Studio representatives have not yet announced casting choices, a director, or a theatrical release window.

Deadline reports that Paramount is currently developing the adaptation alongside CD Projekt Red. Lorenzo di Bonaventura will oversee the project as producer. His past filmography includes major commercial releases such as Constantine as well as recent comic book projects like Madame Web. Paramount has not yet contracted a screenwriter to draft the script, and production schedules remain unconfirmed.

CD Projekt Red has not clarified whether the film directly adapts the storyline of the original game or explores an independent narrative set within Night City. The film represents another expansion for the property following 2 seasons of the animated Edgerunners production. A video game sequel remains in early development and is not projected to arrive before 2030. The cinematic release gives Paramount access to an established audience of 40,000,000 players worldwide while the gaming series prepares for its next installment.
