Steam has reached a new peak concurrent player record of 43505724 active accounts. Platform tracking data from SteamDB confirms the milestone breaks the previous high of 42.6 million set earlier this year. However, only about 33% of those logged in were actually playing a game.
SteamDB metrics show that roughly 14.46 million users were actively playing titles during the peak. The remaining users were browsing the storefront, chatting, or keeping the client open in the background. Valve owned titles led the player counts, with Counter Strike 2 recording 1.4 million concurrent users and Dota 2 reaching 1.03 million. PUBG Battlegrounds took the third spot with 714000 simultaneous players.
The platform added nearly 1 million users to its peak concurrent total across a 7 month span. Valve first crossed 20 million users several years ago before climbing to 30 million and later 40 million concurrent accounts. The service now sits roughly 6.5 million users away from reaching 50 million concurrent accounts.
