StepX has introduced the STEPX Neo Pioneer Edition, an AI agent focused smartphone powered by a Snapdragon 8 series chipset. The hardware combines a secondary rear display with the dedicated Step AOS 1.0 operating system and 16GB of RAM. The full package retails in China for 3999 yuan (around $550 USD), targeting AI developers and early adopters.

StepX produces the phone in Carbon Black and Silicon Silver finishes with a transparent rear casing. Visual design elements include printed references to computing landmarks, including Turing binary code, Deep Blue chess patterns, and Transformer neural architecture. Beside the main front screen, the back panel features a Mini LED matrix screen that displays visual expressions and notifications generated by the internal software agent.

Sound detection uses an array of 6 microphones connected to a low power audio sensing processor running the Whisper 1.0 pickup algorithm. This secondary chip operates on its own to identify voice prompts in noisy spaces, drawing only 1.2% battery over a full 24 hour cycle. The listening pipeline links directly to the Amoo virtual assistant, granting it system level access to onboard sensors, cameras, and local device memory.

Step AOS 1.0 manages system resources, user memory, and task queues through a dual access interface. The operating system connects to third party services from Tencent, Alipay, Meituan, and Didi for travel booking and office tasks. StepX provides buyers with the Step Studio creation tool, allowing creators to produce custom applications and agent workflows using plain text prompts. Each purchase includes a credit plan providing 10 billion monthly model tokens for 12 months.

The STEPX Neo costs 3999 yuan (roughly $550 USD) for the single configuration offering 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage alongside full software model licenses. StepX also runs a trade program where the first 10,000 users who finish specific software tasks receive a voucher to exchange the phone for a newer StepX terminal within 5 years at zero added cost.
