XREAL has introduced the AURA, a lightweight augmented reality headset running the Android XR platform with direct access to Google Play. Developed in collaboration with Google and Qualcomm, the hardware pairs 120 Hz Sony Micro OLED panels with an external compute unit to keep total head weight under 95 grams. Pre orders are currently open in the US, Canada, Japan, and South Korea starting at $1099.
The visual system relies on dual Sony Micro OLED displays producing 1200p resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and a 70 degree field of view. Electrochromic glass allows users to digitally tint the transparent lenses to improve contrast in bright ambient environments. Audio output runs through custom built in speakers tuned by Bose. The optical assembly holds 5 TÜV Rheinland certifications confirming low blue light emissions and zero flicker during operation.
XREAL separates the processing silicon and battery pack into an external pocket unit. This external hardware runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon Reality Elite processor alongside a custom XREAL X1S chip. System navigation supports voice commands, hand gestures, physical keyboards, touchpads, and handheld gaming controllers. Users can also connect laptops or handheld PC gaming consoles directly through a high speed USB C port.
Android XR brings standard Google Play applications alongside 150 software projects created specifically for spatial computing. Google Gemini functions are integrated directly into the system software for live contextual assistance and multi window desktop setups. XREAL packages the headset with a protective storage case. Optional peripherals include a wireless keyboard and a custom GameSir controller equipped with a dedicated physical shortcut to launch Gemini instantly.
Pre orders cover 2 internal configurations. The entry model with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage costs $1099, while the higher capacity version with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage sells for $1299. Customer shipments across supported regions begin shortly.
