It seems that they have secretly been developing a special edition of No Man's Sky for the Nintendo Switch 2, and it is all lined up and ready to be launched with the console's go-live tomorrow.
If you thought the original Switch version was impressive (and let's be honest, it really pushed that hardware), get ready for something truly special. The team at Hello Games considers that this whole new Switch 2 iteration is a giant leap forward. Imagine it the first version was one of the rare games to even implement AMD's FSR 2 tech on Switch.
So, what to look forward to Well, the full multiplayer experience is finally here for Nintendo players. That means jumping into galaxies with friends, and yes, this includes cross-save and cross-play. Just imagine.
But there is still much more. Greatly better visual eye candy
- Expect much better detail, denser environments, and a smoother frame rate.
- A high-res remastering of textures.
- Higher pixel density means crisper visuals whether you're playing on your TV or handheld mode.
- UI will have higher resolution for a more legible look, too.
- Touchscreen and gyro controls are also present for that intuitive feel.
More welcome. Onwards with the Switch 2 announcement, a new huge update called "BEACON" went live today for No Man's Sky across all platforms. This looks like it could be revolutionary, especially if building and management are your thing.
The BEACON update comprehensively changes settlements. Have you ever wanted to run your own cosmic town Now you can. Players can literally become mayors and run multiple settlements. You can:
- Construct and upgrade different buildings.
- Build cool new structures like jukebox bars (play your own tunes), merchant shops (custom starships, anyone), and even tranquil ponds for a spot of fishing.
- Chat with every resident, all of whom come with their own set of skills and personality.
Of course, there's a lot of responsibility that comes along with being mayor. You'll be settling new folks, settling disputes, and making choices for the benefit of your settlements. A properly managed town can earn tons of resources. But beware, because it must also be defended. You may hire a wing-man's squadron to defend against those pesky space pirates, however.
Great time to be a player of No Man's Sky. Whether it is a jump-in on Switch 2 or back to enjoy the BEACON update on whatever platform, there is a universe-load of new adventures waiting to unfold.
