Nothing, the name synonymous with a disruptive approach to design coupled with strong community focus, has finally made the much-awaited announcement the Nothing Phone (3) is here, and even sooner than probably most of us anticipated.
For quite a while, the speculations on what the Phone (3) might offer, especially around its hallmark Glyph Interface, have been doing the rounds. Is it there to stay Or is it going to be a parting gift Well, while we dont know for sure yet, all we have is a day in big red letters July 1. That is when Nothing will unveil the reveal at 6 PM BST (10 AM PT / 8 PM Moscow for those joining us from the other time zones).
The date was announced with a very brief video on X (formerly Twitter). Although the cellphone wasnt showcased in full, the teaser did include a flashing dot-matrix light pattern. Understandably, this kicked off a few rumors. Could this be an indication towards the new visual identity for the Phone (3) It would appear so, considering this dot-matrix aesthetic is largely aligned with what weve seen in Nothing OS—suggesting a move towards a far more harmonious design language across their software and hardware.
Come to Play.

This teaser lands amidst whispers that Nothing might be pivoting away from the classic, segmented Glyph lights seen on the Phone (1) and Phone (2). Instead of completely ditching the lighting system, perhaps theyre reinventing it. Think less about distinct strips and rings, and more about a blended, matrix-style layout that offers a modern, perhaps even more sophisticated, look.
For many, the Glyph Interface-those cool LED lights on the back indicating calls, notifications, and more-is a core part of the Nothing appeal. The mere idea of it being completely gone raises a lot of eyebrows, but the teaser seems to be more about transformation than a complete phasing-out. If this new dot-matrix approach is indeed what we are seeing, it might be Nothings attempt to evolve its old feature with a breath of fresh air and innovation, something that their fans have come to expect.
Interestingly, some reports have even compared their new system to the dot-matrix features found on devices sold by ASUS ROG gaming smartphones, giving a different kind of visual feedback.
Besides the design, the Nothing Phone (3) is expected to be the most technologically advanced smartphone of the company yet. The official specifications are still under wraps until July 1, but leaks suggest that a price tag of around $799 could be staring us in the face.
If you are excited to be among the first to get updates, Nothing has a sign-up form on its website. For now, all eyes are on July 1. Will Nothing once again redefine smartphone design We would be watching very closely.
