Fairphone 6 Gets Top 10/10 Repair Score by iFixit
Fairphone keeps on making phones that last, that you can fix, and that are good for the earth. Their new phone, the Fairphone 6, just got torn apart on video by iFixit, and it was easy to fix. It got the best score, a 10 out of 10.
What's Inside The Teardown Details
Like the older model, the Fairphone 6 lets you fix it by yourself. The video shows you can get to and swap out the big parts really easily.
- Easy to Open: The phone has T5 Torx screws all over. You just take out two screws to take off the back.
- No Glue Battery: The 4,415 mAh battery is held by four screws and has no glue. You can change it fast and safely.
- Easy Screen Swap: To change the 6.31-inch LTPO OLED screen, just take off the top half of the back and eight screws. No glue holds it down.
- Simple Parts: The USB-C port, both back cameras, the front camera, and the speakers are all set in their own blocks that you can switch out with no trouble.
Any Hard Fixes
Most parts are easy to swap. But, the teardown says that to change the lock and volume buttons, you have to take out the main board first.
Why the Perfect 10/10 Score
iFixit didn't just look at how it's built. They also liked that Fairphone offers:
- An eight-year promise to keep the software up to date, which makes the phone good for a long time.
- Lots of spare parts (like batteries, screens, and speakers) for fair prices on their site.
This mix of easy fixes and great support for parts and software makes the Fairphone 6 stand out in how we think about phones and taking care of the earth.
