Nintendo Switch 2 Few Games Explained Insider Details Devkit Shortage and Release Control

Inside View Why Few Games for New Nintendo Switch 2

After the June release of Nintendo Switch 2, we see few games out for it. An insider, NateDrake (or NateTheHate), shares why big studios aren't putting out new games quickly.

Main Problem Hard to Get Devkits

NateDrake says the big hold-up is Nintendo itself. The firm is very tight on giving out Switch 2 devkits, needed by developers to make and bring games. He notes that devs spoke of this lack before the system even came out, and about two-thirds of devkit requests got no answer from Nintendo.

Focus on Exclusive Games

Nintendo wants to give devkits to teams making games just for Switch 2. The insider points out that FromSoftware's "The Duskbloods" is a type of game getting priority. But studios that want to bring over games from the first Switch or other systems aren't getting as much attention.

Slow Help for Those with Devkits

Even teams with a devkit face issues. Nintendo seems slow in helping many of them because of limited staff. While some, like CD Projekt RED with "Cyberpunk 2077," get help, others wait long with no answers to their support needs.

Control Over When Games Release

Another part is how Nintendo controls when games drop. NateDrake says lots of studios are ready to release their games for Switch 2, but Nintendo wants them to wait for the next big event, making fewer games come out now.
