Nintendo Switch 2 Faces Early Making and Works Problems
Many say that game makers are meeting limits on the new Nintendo Switch 2 unit. At the same time, other problems with getting to maker kits (devkits) are making third-party groups mad.
'Donkey Kong Bananza' Shows Drop in How Well It Works
In a talk with Spain's La Vanguardia paper, Kazuya Takahashi, the lead of the big first-party game Donkey Kong Bananza, said the game might slow down now and then. He said this was due to how much the game uses 3D voxel tech for its breakable settings.
Takahashi said that the making team put fun and play first, even if it meant the game did not run smoothly all the time, especially when a lot of the setting was falling apart. When asked about the slowing down, he said, "We know that at those times, it may not work as well."
The game's tough voxel engine, which lets Donkey Kong break walls and pull apart bits of the place, was said to be why it moved from the first Switch to only be on the Switch 2.
Big Devkit Access Problems for Third-Party Makers
In a separate talk on the "Nate the Hate" podcast, trusted inside sources say many third-party makers still can't get to Nintendo Switch 2 devkits. They say this stops them from making games for the new unit and makes them very mad.
The story says that Nintendo's way of giving out devkits now is not like before and is not clear. Some makers who asked for access months ago still don't know when they will get it. This issue is making it hard to see new third-party game news for the Switch 2.
Also, even some groups that have devkits are not sharing news about their games, maybe to make the time from showing to coming out shorter.
A Coming Nintendo Direct May Make Things Clear
This problem with third-party games might get fixed soon. The inside person said a new Nintendo Direct show is set for later this month. It might focus a lot on third-party Switch 2 games, maybe sharing when games like Final Fantasy VII Remake and Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition will be out on the new unit.
