GMKtec Quietly Alters EVO-X2 Mini-PC Configuration in China

The company has made the change probably some time before the announcement- the new mid-tier configurations for the mini-PC were just introduced into China. It is based on the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 "Strix Halo" APU. The change targets the storage capacity offered with the 96 GB RAM variant.

Configuration Change in Detail

Three memory configurations for the EVO-X2 used to be offered before. While the 64 GB and 128 GB options are unchanged, the 96 GB RAM model seems to have been altered as follows:

  • Old Middle Config: 96 GB RAM with a 2 TB SSD.
  • New Middle Config: 96 GB RAM with a 1 TB SSD.

This comes as more competing designs under the same AMD Strix Halo platform, such as the FEVM FA-EX9Beelink GTR9 ProXPlus XRivalAokzoe Mini PC and Geekom A9 Mega, are starting to enter the market.

New Chinese Pricing and International Availability

With the new configuration, GMKtec has also introduced a new price for the 96 GB/1 TB model in China. The new specification will be priced:

  • New 96 GB / 1 TB SKU: CNY 10,999 (around USD 1,599).

This price is CNY 1,000 (around USD 160) higher than the 64 GB / 1 TB base model. It is unknown whether GMKtec will place this new 96 GB / 1 TB configuration on the international market. The previous 96 GB / 2 TB version is still showing a global price of $1,799 , and $2,599.99 On amazon US; there has been no information about its possible price adjustment.
