The Outer Worlds 2 Gets New Trailer, Release Date, and Confirms No Respec Feature
The trailer for The Outer Worlds 2 was shown during Gamescom Opening Night Live, giving players a good look at the game's companions and confirming the October 29 release date. The trailer makes a point of telling the players that they cannot form romantic relationships with the companions, a design choice Obsidian purposely made to avoid creating an underdeveloped romance system.
Character Builds Are Now Permanent
A big change by Obsidian in character building is the altogether removal of the ability to respec or reallocate skill points. This is done so that character build choices become meaningful throughout one's playthrough.
Game Director Brandon Adler explained it as such:
"Look, if we're going to do Outer Worlds 2, I want to make sure that the role playing is really strong. I want to make sure that you're really building your character, doubling down -- actually making sure that role-playing comes through the whole experience."
