8BitDo Celebrates 40 Years of the NES with Limited Edition Gaming Gear
As part of the 40th anniversary celebration of the North American release of the Nintendo Entertainment System, 8BitDo announced a limited edition collection of themed accessories that includes a revamped Ultimate 2 wireless controller from the company, a Retro 87 N Edition mechanical keyboard, and a Retro Cube 2 speaker-themes inspired by the classic console.
Ultimate 2 Controller NES Limited Edition
The Ultimate 2 controller Limited Edition has a color scheme of black and white-a reminiscence of the NES, with accents of bright red buttons. A pair of our exclusive rear buttons rounds out a feature set that includes Hall effect sensors on both sticks and triggers-for durability and accuracy. The controller features Bluetooth compatibility, Nintendo Switch, and upcoming Switch 2. It comes packaged with a 2.4 GHz dongle and dedicated receiver for use on an original NES console.
Retro 87 N Edition Mechanical Keyboard
Retro 87 N Edition is a mechanical keyboard with an NES design. An important feature of this model is the frames for the keycaps, switches, and chassis-all made of aluminum alloys-which increased its weight to 2.2 kg. The keyboard has been reconfigured from 87 to 68 keys and now features Box Ice Cream Pro Max switches. Moreover, it includes wirelessly connected Super Buttons and a 6500 mAh battery rated for up to 300 hours of usage.
Retro Cube 2 N Edition Speaker
The new design for the 8BitDo Retro Cube 2 N Edition Bluetooth speaker also gets a makeover. The current generation model has sets of double speakers, a USB Type-C port for charging, an inbuilt microphone, and a larger battery of 2000 mAh providing up to 30 hours of operation hours. In addition to Bluetooth, the new offering can now connect via a 2.4 GHz radio channel. The speaker stock includes a charging dock.

It's a limited collection with staggered release dates:
- Ultimate 2 controller: November 15, 2025. Limited to just 1,985 numbered units. Price: $79.
- Retro 87 N Edition Keyboard: January 2026. Price: $499.
- Retro Cube 2 Speaker: Available from 8th December. Priced at $49.
