Nintendo Shows Off Gameplay for the Vi-O-La Motorcycle in Metroid Prime 4 Beyond
Nintendo detailed the Vi-O-La, a summonable motorcycle that will feature in the upcoming title, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. The vehicle is designed to alter traversal for Samus Aran-the player character- but only in certain areas of the planet Viewros.
The summoning behavior and traversal of Vi-O-La
The Vi-O-La was first revealed in a trailer by Nintendo Direct. Flying just below the level of speeding, it is a motorcycle created by the Lamorn civilization. According to the update on Nintendo's Japanese website, the summonable vehicle is available to Samus only in designated areas of the environment. Upon dismounting; the game shifts back into standard first-person immersion.
The bike does not only offer a means of conveyance; it possesses combat capabilities. Players may engage enemies or clear obstacles, like scattered ore, using in-game actions as the exploration unfolds.
On-Board Actions and Abilities
Here are some of the key features that Vi-O-La offers to Samus:
- Power Boost: Increased speed for a short period of time, also able to knock back enemies.
- Drift Power-Slide: For a deft sideways drift.
- Homing Energy Blasts: Offensive abilities that can lock on to and shoot at five targets at once.
