Resident Evil Requiem Hits Over 2 Million Wishlists, a High Demand Demonstration
The Japanese video game giant Capcom has announced the latest significant update about the incoming game Resident Evil Requiem, and it has surpassed the record of wishlist entries beyond 2 million. Above all, this newest record shows the desirability of that project long before its launch.
The positive trend for the game really began when it got unveiled. According to the developers, Resident Evil Requiem managed to reach its first million wishlists just about two and a half weeks after its announcement. However, the breakdown of the 2 million across platforms remains undisclosed.
Preferred Playing Tendencies of Players as Revealed at Expos
In addition to wishlist news, Capcom analyzed player behavior from the recent hands-on demos at Gamescom 2025 and Tokyo Game Show 2025. The company perceived a clear distinctiveness of preference based on geographical location with regard to gameplay camera angles.
- American Gamers (Gamescom) Most preferred first-person camera view.
- Japanese Gamers (Tokyo Game Show) Most preferred third-person camera mode.
Game director Koshi Nakanishi hinted that cultural history of gaming might have played a role in this phenomenon. He believed that first-person perspective would be more intuitive towards players from Europe and America, since growing up in a culture filled with first-person shooter games such as DOOM, while Japanese one's mostly involve third-person RPG-shaped experiences such as Dragon Quest.
Release Date and Platforms
Capcom announced that Resident Evil: Requiem will be released on February 27, 2026. The title will be available for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and the upcoming Switch 2 console.
