AYANEO NEXT II Confirmed with Unique 3-2 OLED Display and 165Hz Refresh Rate
AYANEO has officially released crucial display specifications about its upcoming flagship, the NEXT II. In a market flooded with competition, this product will stand out as the first gaming handheld to come with a 3:2 aspect ratio screen, moving away from the traditional formats of 16:9 or 16:10 adopted by its competitors. The other high-end component accompanying this display is the AMD Strix Halo silicon.
A Breakdown of the Exclusive Large Screen
After months of hinting at an exclusive large screen for months, AYANEO has laid down the specifics for the public eye via social media posts. The NEXT II offers a completely different view compared to the GPD WIN 5 or ONEXFLY APEX.
- Display Size 9-inch OLED (Native Landscape).
- Resolution 2400 x 1504 pixels.
- Refresh Rate 165Hz.
- Aspect Ratio 3:2.
While around the same time, most modern handhelds stick to 8-inch screens with 1920 x 1200 resolution, the NEXT II ensures taller viewing. This 1504p resolution allows for sharper visuals, though driving modern AAA titles at full native and hitting the 165Hz limit will be quite stressful for the hardware. However, for eSports titles and optimized games, fluidity should be of significance.
Powering the Pixels AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395
For this intense resolution OLED panel, the NEXT II certainly packs some punch to ensure that there is enough power to drive it. It operates on the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor based on the Zen 5 architecture.
- Cores/Threads 16 cores and 32 threads.
- Graphics Radeon 8060S iGPU (RDNA 3.5 architecture).
- GPU Power 40 Compute Units (CUs).
This configuration is some of the strongest hardware obtainable at present under the handheld form factor. The full specs are still rolling out, but the combination of a 40 CU GPU and a high-refresh OLED screen solidifies NEXT II's place as a true heavyweight in the portable gaming arena.
