Xiaomi Challenges Compact Tablet Segment with Redmi K Pad 2 Release High Performance 8.8 Inch Display and Dimensity 9500 Chip
Xiaomi has introduced its new compact tablet model the Redmi K Pad 2 which produces its first release in the Chinese market. The device competes directly with Apple products in small form factor devices by delivering high processing capabilities and special peripheral support for an 8.8 inch display. The company targets power users who need both mobility and top tier performance by setting the product price at 3599 CNY or around 500 dollars.
The device uses a 165Hz liquid crystal display to produce its visual output. The panel uses different technology from the AMOLED screens that larger models use, but the panel achieves high speed with a 540Hz touch sampling rate and 1100 nits peak brightness. Xiaomi uses software and driver updates to enable supported games to achieve their maximum refresh rate of 165 frames per second, which they maintain during intense gameplay.
The system uses MediaTek Dimensity 9500 as its main processing unit. The specific implementation lacks dedicated graphic enhancement chips, which exist in the new Red Magic K90 Max phone according to internal testing results. The design uses a large vapor chamber to control thermal energy from the advanced chip, which prevents the tablet from experiencing quick performance decline.
The hardware features two separate USB-C ports as its main functional element. This design allows simultaneous operation, enabling users to charge the device through one port while using the other for data transfer and accessory connections. The system includes a 9100 mAh battery, supports 67W fast charging, and offers 22.5W wired reverse charging for external devices.
The complete package includes audio tuning that Bose certified and the system supports official use of the Metapen A8 stylus. Consumers can select between two base configurations which provide 8 gigabytes of memory and 256 gigabytes of storage or they can choose the highest model which offers 16 gigabytes of memory and 512 gigabytes of storage for 4999 CNY or approximately 700 dollars. The product remains exclusive to China, but industry experts expect it to launch worldwide because its previous version became available worldwide after rebranding.
