Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5i 15IWC11 Launches Globally With Lightweight Aluminum Build Powerful Intel Wildcat Lake Processors and High Refresh 120Hz IPS Display
The manufacturer has added to its portable hardware portfolio by globally introducing IdeaPad Slim 5i 15IWC11, right after the launch of the IdeaPad Slim 3i line of devices. The new device packs an Intel Wildcat processor, which marks Lenovo's attempt at bringing more recent silicon into mid range laptops. The documentation shared by Lenovo with regard to the latest laptop also indicates it is coming after four other, lower tier, laptops bearing similar names from the Slim 3 series and packing four Wildcat Lake CPUs.
The IdeaPad Slim 5i 15IWC11 comes with a sandblasted aluminum chassis that is 339 x 236 x 15.6 millimeters in dimensions. With a huge 15.3 inch screen it would not be expected that this portable computer weighs only 1.49 kilograms (lighter than the 15 inch MacBook Air), this makes for an extremely portable device. On the inside the laptop packs an 80 x 135 millimeter touchpad as well as an option of either a 54.7 Wh or a 70 Wh battery depending on what one needs from their portable computers, but that isn't what this one has on the inside.
Instead, at the center, the IdeaPad Slim 5i 15IWC11 is driven by an Intel Core 5 320 or a more performant Core 7 350 processor that relies on 32GB of fast LPDDR5X 7467 RAM. Visuals are handled by a 15.3 inch IPS screen with 1920 x 1200 resolution, and that is also incredibly well lit with 400 nit brightness and has a contrast ratio of 1200:1, not a very wide viewing angle but decent enough for use in a brighter environment than usual. The frame also sports a 120Hz screen.
The IdeaPad Slim 5i 15IWC11 also sports a number of physical connection ports on both sides of its chassis, such as 2x USB Type A ports and 2x USB Type C ports. Both USB C ports can carry up to 65W of Power Delivery though charging will only be done through the ports located on the right side of the device. A full sized HDMI port is included along with a microSD card reader as well as a standard headphone jack.
For storage, Lenovo decided on providing a single internal M.2 2280 slot that currently ships with a smaller, 2242 storage drive allowing for easy future upgrades to full size models. Lenovo hasn't revealed the actual cost or any release dates in specific regions, so those will just have to wait.
