Xiaomi Cancels Ultra Slim iPhone Air Competitor To Launch Powerful Xiaomi 17 Max With Better Battery And Camera Hardware Performance
Lu Weibing the General Manager of the company during a digital event disclosed that the company did have a device that was planned to compete with the iPhone Air but decided to call it off at 1 stage of being almost released. This was because the engineer needed to achieve a very slim profile, it would have cost an arm and a leg for the end user.
The reason behind dropping this model was that the engineering cost to get an extremely slim phone profile would cause very significant drawbacks. Weibing noted that for the sake of having an ultra slim chassis the brand would need to compromise severely on battery life as well as performance. To avoid selling customers a phone that would only have minimal battery life or would slow down due to lack of powerful engineering required. The company therefore chose to focus on power consumption.
The new focus is the Xiaomi 17 Max. The General Manager assured the viewers that this isn't just a large version of the current device. Weibing stated that it would be more like an alternative flagship with several advantages in its hardware. Users can now get a flagship phone that would give them better camera sensors and battery life as compared to its already established sister phone the Xiaomi 17 Max without the need to make considerable compromises to its power performance.
Looking at the current situation, the Xiaomi 17 Max would have very impressive features to compare against its smaller version in both optical senses and power performance. The loss of an extremely thin flagship phone is certainly not going to be the cause for major despair as it looks like the company wants to achieve this target with the Xiaomi 17 Max, but in a way that doesn't compromise the overall performance.
