Dell announced it is broadening the scope of its display offerings with four new gaming monitors under the Alienware brand. Unveiled at the official Alienware Computex product launch showcase, the range features a 39 inch dual resolution OLED display, a 34 inch QD OLED panel, and two VA monitors, both of which feature curvature, as part of its new Alienware 30 design language. The new lineup includes:
Alienware AW3926QW Dual Resolution OLED
The high end Alienware device launched here is a 39 inch OLED, the first that supports the RGB Stripe Tandem OLED architecture, with an OLED native 5K resolution, of 5120x2160 pixels. This LG produced panel utilizes a 4 stack light source comprised of two blue, one red and one green component placed on top of each other to sit behind aRGB stripe sub pixel configuration that it claims has
an improved text quality and color volume compared to traditional WOLED monitors
Running the display in a 2560x1080 mode ups the refresh rate from 165Hz to 330Hz.
A contrast ratio of 1.75 million 1 is boasted, along with a polarising anti reflective layer on the surface of the display to cut down the effects of light reflections in the viewing environment. In terms of performance, the response time is stated as 0.03ms G2G, while the gamut coverage of the screen is rated as 99% DCI P3, as well as being Nvidia G Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro compatible. An Esports mode is on offer, which will crop the panel to simulate smaller screens at higher refresh rates and can mimic a 24.5 inch panel at 1520x855 or a 27 inch panel at 1680x945 resolution, both running at 330Hz. For connections, the AW3926QW comes with a pair of HDMI 2.1 connections, and a DisplayPort 2.1 port as well as one USB C display alternative with DisplayPort Alt Mode and support for power delivery up to 90W.
Alienware AW3426DW QD OLED with Penta Tandem Tech
Next up for Alienware at its Computex keynote, there is a 34 inch curve screen that also usesQD OLED with Penta Tandem Tech, and this 1800R curved monitor employs a Penta Tandem OLED with five layers of blue light emitting components which Alienware says
provides an increase of 1.3x luminous efficiency and will double the longevity
A V Stripe RGB configuration is utilized to prevent color fringing in the image, a common problem that has occurred with olderQD OLED displays. A 3440x1400 display, with a refresh rate of up to 280Hz and a stated peak brightness of 1,300nits, it is VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 compatible, alongside Dolby Vision support. In terms of connectivity, there is twoHDMI 2.1 ports and a DisplayPort 1.4 port, plus a USB hub with down stream A and C type ports for charging your devices up to 15W. These two are due in mid year with no prices currently available.
Rounding off the announcements, there are two mainstream VA curved monitors from Alienware, both using 1500R curves and capable of running up to 240Hz, which boast a high 3000 1 static contrast ratio and 1ms response times. These come with VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification, and both utilize a pair of HDMI 2.1 ports, plus a single DisplayPort 1.4 connection as well as various USB connections.
