Noctua and Carbice Launch NT CP1 AM5 4 Thermal Pad Using Carbon Nano Tube Technology to Replace Traditional Thermal Paste Indefinitely

Noctua and Carbice have officially partnered to release their 1st joint hardware product, a thermal pad called the Noctua NT CP1 AM5 4. Built to be an alternative thermal interface replacement of the traditional liquid thermal paste for AM5 and AM4 AMD Ryzens, the thermal pad is stated in the partnership announcement to be an interface that will retain its structure indefinitely and will never dry or degrade like traditional thermal paste.

Standard silicon based thermal pads will break down and degrade over time because of continuous heating and cooling. Instead, Noctua has made a microscopic network of carbon nano tubes which conforms physically with both the processor heat spreader and the cooler base due to the small surface variations. This material is actually stated to increase thermal transfer after hundreds and thousands of power cycles as the carbon nano tubes bed themselves into the metal interfaces. The material will not crumble or dry out due to its composition. It is composed of a layer of carbon nano tubes which form around an aluminum core, and then is encased in a protective layer of polymer coating which makes it electrically non conductive so there are no risks of shorting your electronics out. It is sticky enough to allow it to stick to components during installation but can be cleanly removed with no residue.

The deal struck with Carbice names Noctua as their 1 exclusive retailer of Carbice technology to the PC hardware market. This deal allows Carbice to utilize Noctua's wide retail distribution channels and bring industrial strength thermal interface to builders in the PC market. Retail release date is stated for sometime late this year, pricing will follow closer to retail availability.
