PlayStation State of Play Broadcast Details With Marvel Wolverine Gameplay Plus God of War and Naughty Dog Rumored Titles
Tonight is the night to clear your schedules, as PlayStation is gearing up to host a massive State of Play stream starting at 10pm tonight in the UK. That translates to 11pm CEST, 2pm PDT, and 5pm EDT. If we go by the official Sony interactive entertainment broadcast schedule, then viewers will be treated to over sixty minutes of footage from multiple studios covering gameplay from their current titles and announcements from new projects they are working on.
At the heart of tonight's presentation will be Marvel Wolverine. Insomniac Games' highly anticipated title is currently being targeted for September 15 release, and a deep dive into what it will be like in terms of gameplay and visual style is extremely welcome as a title that is coming very near to its launch.
This is a very big time in Sony's platform strategy, as many have expressed concerns about their own exclusive portfolio after they were rumored to be stopping the PC releases of its major console exclusives. Tonight is critical, as Sony has to be able to prove that their first party game line up is robust enough to warrant the expensive purchases of PlayStation hardware in today's market and that they will no longer rely on multi platform releases to drive interest and sales.
Outside of the Marvel Wolverine, the hour of content from the State of Play has already ignited plenty of speculation from across the industry, with the strong relationship with Square Enix hinting that a piece of news from part three of Final Fantasy 7 may indeed be revealed during this event. There is also speculation about the announcement of a remastered version of Rayman Origins from Ubisoft.
There are also two other massive internal Sony titles that the gaming world is very interested to learn about. Rumor suggests a new God of War title will be announced, and speculation is pointing at a return to the classic fast paced hack and slash gameplay of its earlier titles. There is also interest in a science fiction title that has been rumored for some time to be in development at Naughty Dog, and it is thought that Intergalactic may also be revealed to the masses at some point during the presentation given the broad topic range for the show.
