Realme is reportedly winding down its smartphone operations in its home market of China amidst a major internal reorganization. According to details shared by a prominent Chinese insider on social media, the company has halted the production of its entire domestic hardware catalog. But the brand plans to continue selling its devices in overseas markets, leaving the future of several major product lines in limbo.
The report from insider Digital Chat Station claims that Realme has stopped manufacturing all models for China, with remaining warehouse stock expected to clear out by late autumn. This abrupt halt means that highly anticipated models like the GT series and the Neo series will not see a release this year. The long term survival of both series remains entirely uncertain as the brand reorganizes its global footprint.
Instead of keeping its focus on China, the company is shifting its attention to international buyers. This transition comes with a catch. The popular GT and Neo devices will not ship to international retailers, and standard numbered models will take their place in several regions. While Realme does not sell laptops or tablets outside of China right now, there is a chance that 1 dedicated gaming tablet could launch globally in the future.
The insider also shared a brief update regarding sister brand OnePlus. Rumors of a camera partnership between OnePlus and Ricoh are reportedly false. The sub brand remains focused strictly on maximizing gaming performance on its upcoming hardware, rather than pursuing external camera branding.
