Tested by YouTube channel Geek Culture, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 features a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor, up to 16 GB of RAM, and a 7.6 inch main display. But the ultra thin chassis faces thermal limits in highly demanding titles.
This foldable device is built with a 7.6 inch primary screen using a 4:3 aspect ratio. When closed, users interact with a 5.5 inch cover screen featuring a 16:10 ratio. The hardware measures only 4.5 millimeters thick when unfolded and houses a 4800 mAh battery. The device is not marketed as a gaming phone. But it performs like one.
The gaming test pushed the phone through 3 popular titles on maximum settings. Genshin Impact ran perfectly, maintaining a stable 60 fps with the chassis temperature peaking at a comfortable 38 degrees Celsius. The multiplayer shooter Delta Force also performed well, holding nearly stable 60 fps on ultimate graphics settings in both the folded and unfolded physical states.
Action heavy scenes in Zenless Zone Zero proved much more difficult for the hardware. Frame rates regularly dipped to between 20 and 35 fps during intense fights, while the case temperature reached 41 degrees Celsius in the hottest spots. Ultimately, the reviewer described the device as a powerful option that offers a highly unique mobile gaming experience, especially when playing in the folded state.
