Taiwan Economic Minister Addresses TSMC Arizona Fabrication Plant Claims and Domestic Growth Plans

Taiwan Economic Minister Rebuts Trump Claims on TSMC Arizona Scope While Highlighting Domestic Semiconductor Dominance and Global Mineral Resource Acquisition Plans

Taiwan Economic Minister Kung Ming Hsin responded to claims made by US President Donald Trump regarding the scale of TSMC fabrication plants in Arizona. In a recent interview Trump reportedly indicated that the semiconductor leader plans to double its fabrication plant expansion in Arizona to help the US secure a fifty percent share of the global semiconductor market. Kung Ming Hsin insisted on respecting the official corporate statements issued by TSMC and pointed out that Taiwan still holds the top position in manufacturing capacity that other nations are unable to match.

While speaking before a departmental convening of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Mr. Kung Ming Sin provided further clarification for the Taiwanese strategic position. He stated that domestic operations continue to be the main locale for the assembly of the world's most advanced microchips.

Current internal growth forecasts and official publications reflect that Taiwanese computer chip fabrication companies, notably TSMC, hold 16 major fabrication centers that are either built, under construction, or scheduled to be so within the next few months. This substantial presence of domestic computer chip fabricating companies is bolstered by advanced packaging and testing infrastructure. The Taiwanese official added that despite eager U.S. plans to attract foreign investment, even the most optimistic projections would find it difficult to match the scope of existing production.

With respect to the ongoing negotiations involving diplomacy and financial questions, the Taiwanese government expressed complete confidence in the corporate management structure. They outlined that Chief Executive Officer (CEO) CC Wei possesses both the strategic understanding and diplomatic compassion necessary to steer the Taiwanese corporation through intercountry negotiations.

The Taiwanese government prefers to maintain a supportive role with respect to its international affairs and has declined to comment on the individual cooperation strategies of its private members.

In addition to the production of the world's most advanced semiconductors, Taiwan is actively seeking ways to obtain the natural resources necessary to fuel its factories. The Geological Survey and Mining Management Agency has promulgated final plans for an international inspection team to examine key mineral deposits during the latter half of the year.

Officers will assess the nature of deposits in locations such as California and Colorado around the tenth month to determine if they are suitable for future Taiwanese mineral deposit enterprise initiatives. This interest in securing key raw materials is not exclusive to the United States. The Geological Survey and Mining Management Agency has already engaged in a dialogue with the Australian government regarding supply chain relations and has previously considered resource issues with Canada. These efforts are intended to diversify the supply of vital minerals and to secure the short term and long term needs of the domestic electronics industry.
