Anbernic has officially launched the RG 55G1, a new Android gaming handheld powered by the Snapdragon G1 Gen 2 processor. The device features a 5.5 inch 1080p screen, Hall effect controls, and a design heavily inspired by the Nintendo Switch Lite. Pricing in China starts at 899 yuan about 133.65$ US for the base configuration.
Inside, the RG 55G1 runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon G1 Gen 2 silicon paired with an active internal cooling fan to keep temperatures down during heavy emulation. The front of the handheld is dominated by a 5.5 inch IPS display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and full 1080p resolution. Powering the system is a 6000mAh battery that supports 18W wired fast charging.
For controls, Anbernic equipped the device with dual Hall effect analog sticks to prevent stick drift, a traditional D pad, and standard ABXY buttons. The top edge houses 4 shoulder buttons, including 2 analog Hall triggers for precise input in racing and shooting titles. Software is handled by Android 14, giving players direct access to modern mobile games and emulation frontends right out of the box.
Peripheral connectivity covers the essentials with Wi Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microSD slot for expandable storage. The base model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage retails at an introductory price of 899 yuan. A higher tier model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage is also available for 1049 yuan.
