Vivo has launched the S2, a mid range smartphone that defies current flat screen design trends with a curved display. The device packs a massive 7050 mAh battery into an incredibly slim chassis measuring just 8 millimeters thick. Sales have already begun in India with pricing starting at roughly $400.
The front of the phone features a 6.83 inch curved AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2800x1260. It runs at a smooth 120 Hz refresh rate and reaches a local peak brightness of 3000 nits while supporting HDR10 plus content. Symmetric stereo speakers provide the audio output, and an optical fingerprint scanner sits under the glass for biometric security.
Fitting a 7050 mAh battery into a chassis this thin is an engineering accomplishment, keeping the total weight between 197 and 199 grams. The phone handles 44W fast charging to top up the massive cell quickly. For peace of mind, the body is certified with IP68 and IP69 ratings, making it highly resistant to water and dust.
Under the hood, the device runs on a 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 7360 Turbo processor. To keep thermal throttling away, Vivo installed a vapor chamber measuring 3810 square millimeters, which is part of a larger 23000 square millimeter cooling system. Software is up to date with Android 16 and the custom OriginOS 6 interface, bringing Google Gemini and Circle to Search features directly to users.
The camera system is straightforward, featuring a 50 megapixel Sony main sensor with an f1.8 aperture and a 2 megapixel depth sensor on the back. Selfies are handled by a 32 megapixel front lens, and both sides can record video in 4K resolution. Memory configurations include 8 or 12 GB of RAM with storage tiers going up to 512 GB. While the entry model with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage costs $420, stepping up to 256 GB of storage brings the price to $525.
