Vivo sub brand iQOO has launched the iQOO 16 in China, packing a massive 8400mAh battery alongside the new 2 nanometer Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor. The device combines a 6.85 inch 2K OLED display running at 165Hz with a dedicated Q4 gaming coprocessor to play heavy titles with zero frame drops. Retail pricing starts at 5999 yuan, roughly equal to $894, before local buyer subsidies lower the final checkout price.
The screen uses Samsung M16 luminescent material paired with 2K LEAD 2.0 display tech developed jointly with Samsung Display. It outputs a 3168x1440 resolution with a uniform brightness rating of 2800 nits and an extreme local peak of 10000 nits. High frequency PWM dimming reaches 3300Hz to prevent eye strain during dark room sessions. Gamers get a 5000Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate alongside a 500Hz multi finger rate. Touch latency drops by 28% using a hardware feature called Q flex.
Silicon power comes from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 built on a 2 nanometer node. Lab benchmarks from the launch event show an AnTuTu score passing 5,570,000 points. The custom Q4 gaming coprocessor offloads graphics tasks like ray tracing, image sharpening, and frame insertion. This dual chip setup allows the phone to run demanding mobile games at 2K resolution locked at 165 frames per second. Video out over the USB 3.2 Gen1 Type C port supports external monitors up to 8K resolution.
Thermal control relies on an 8500 square millimeter single layer vapor chamber. Three layers of graphite bring total heat spreading area to 29453 square millimeters. The internal Monster Engine scheduler balances workload demands across the cores to avoid thermal throttling during extended matches. Frame stability remains high even under heavy loads.
The rear camera module houses 3 individual 50MP sensors arranged in an offset triangular pattern under floating deco glass. The primary camera relies on a large 1/1.3 size sensor supported by the NICE 3.0 optical engine for low light processing. A 50MP Sony periscope lens delivers 3x optical magnification with CIPA 5.0 optical stabilization. An ultrawide 50MP sensor completes the back array, while a 32MP camera handles selfies on the front. Sound comes through symmetrical Master Drum Pro stereo speakers with 17% larger acoustic chambers for deeper bass. Haptics rely on dual axis linear vibration motors for tactile feedback.
Battery endurance is the real headliner here. The phone carries an 8400mAh battery that supports 100W wired power and 40W wireless charging. Direct drive power delivery lets you game while plugged in without heating up the battery pack. The body is certified for both IP68 and IP69 water and dust immersion.
The base configuration with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage sells for 5,999 yuan (~$830 USD), dropping to 5,499 yuan (~$760 USD) with regional subsidies. A step up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage costs 6,799 yuan (~$940 USD). Higher tiers with 16GB of RAM cost 7,499 yuan (~$1,035 USD) for 512GB of storage, peaking at 8,499 yuan (~$1,175 USD) for the top 1TB model.
