The OnePlus 16 is getting a massive camera overhaul alongside the fastest display in the industry. According to new leaks from reliable insider Digital Chat Station, the upcoming flagship will feature a 200MP main camera and a 165Hz screen. OnePlus aims to position the device as its most capable photography and gaming phone yet.
The rear camera module brings a major jump in resolution. The main shooter relies on a 200MP sensor measuring 1/1.4 inch, making it a standout choice in its hardware class. Digital Chat Station confirmed that OnePlus will back up this sensor with its latest flagship processing algorithms. Zoom duties are handled by a 50MP Sony periscope telephoto lens with a 1/1.95 inch sensor size and 3X optical zoom. The setup also includes a 50MP ultra wide camera on the back and a 50MP front facing selfie camera equipped with auto focus.
Visual performance is getting an equal amount of attention. The phone will debut the next generation Oriental display panel, which supports a global 165Hz refresh rate across the entire operating system. This is a first for the mobile sector. Out of the box, the handset will run ColorOS 17, introducing fresh system level animations built specifically to take advantage of the ultra high frame rate screen.
OnePlus China president Li Jie confirmed that the company is introducing 3 major proprietary gaming technologies with this launch. The device features an upgraded gaming kernel and a tri chip architecture developed in partnership with Qualcomm Snapdragon.
