Rebel Wolves Reconsiders Core Timer for The Blood of Dawnwalker Sequel

Rebel Wolves is already working on a follow up to its hit dark fantasy role playing game The Blood of Dawnwalker. The debut title became an immediate commercial triumph, passing 1,000,000 copies sold and peaking near 100,000 concurrent players on Steam. However, the development team is now actively reconsidering the strict countdown clock that divided the player base.

Rebel Wolves centered its original marketing campaign on an aggressive narrative timer. Every activity in the world pushed the clock forward, forcing users to finish their journey within a strict limit of 30 days. While reviewers praised the atmosphere and writing despite rough performance optimization at launch, many buyers disliked the system. Players who enjoy slow exploration felt constant psychological pressure rather than narrative freedom.

Game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz confirmed that the team heard the community feedback loud and clear. During a recent discussion with eurogamer regarding the sequel, he explained that the studio will experiment before locking down any core systems.

To be honest, we have not decided yet what to do with it. We will experiment. If there are certain parts of the story or even the entire narrative where it fits, we will definitely use it. If not, we do not want to force it onto players.

Tomaszkiewicz noted that the team might restrict time limits to specific high tension story moments rather than the entire campaign. The studio aims to test other unconventional ideas to keep the genre fresh without alienating fans who prefer a traditional exploration pace.
