Apple Releases iOS 27.2 with Siri AI Conversation Memory and Interface Tweaks

Apple has released iOS 27.2, bringing conversation memory to Siri AI alongside upgraded messaging and video tools. The update lets the digital assistant recall past discussions and pull details directly from messages, calendar entries, and web history. Installation is available now for iPhone 11 models and newer through the standard system update menu.

Siri AI now maintains context across separate sessions, recalling older suggestions like restaurant recommendations made days prior. The assistant pulls information from photo attachments in Messages, calendar schedules, voicemails, Safari history, and the Reading List. To manage access, Apple added an Excluded Apps menu in system settings, allowing users to block the assistant and system search from reading specific applications. Users can also highlight and copy specific text sections directly from Siri responses. The assistant adds French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish language options, though regional restrictions keep Siri AI unavailable in the European Union across phones, tablets, and watches.

The Messages app scans text context to suggest immediate actions, including calendar invites, reminders, or map locations. Photos gains caption and comment editing in shared albums, duplicate photo warnings, and album expiration alerts. It also integrates SynthID detection to identify artificial intelligence generated images. The Podcasts app separates the old queue into New Episodes and Continue Playing sections. Apple TV introduces separate user profiles with individual watch histories and parental age locks. Apple Music adopts a black and white application icon, replaces red interface accents with blue details, and switches widgets to a black background. Apple Books adds reading progress meters, a dedicated bookmark button, and an updated Liquid Glass menu design.

The Home app allows compatible smart locks to lock automatically after a set delay, sending alerts if a door stays open. FaceTime group calls now support Dual Capture, letting users broadcast both the front and rear cameras at the same time. Calls also allow external sign language interpreters and live caption specialists to join. On the folding iPhone Duo, iOS 27.2 introduces Apple Pencil USB C support, enabling stylus writing, drawing, and navigation across both display panels.
