BMW has introduced the all electric iX4 crossover coupe, expanding its Neue Klasse lineup with updated battery architecture and next generation cabin displays. The dual motor variant delivers up to 828 kilometers of driving range on a single charge. Customer deliveries begin early next year with 2 initial models, followed by a performance flagship later in the production cycle.
BMW produces the vehicle across 3 distinct mechanical setups. The entry level iX4 40 xDrive outputs 275 kW (374 horsepower) with 520 Nm of torque, reaching 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds with a maximum range of 638 kilometers. Stepping up to the iX4 50 xDrive introduces 2 electric motors producing 345 kW (469 horsepower) and 645 Nm of torque. This mid tier version reaches 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, tops out at 210 km/h, and delivers the peak range figure of 828 kilometers. High speed charging adds approximately 387 kilometers of driving range in 10 minutes.
The high output BMW iX4 M60 xDrive utilizes 2 electric motors generating 450 kW (612 horsepower) and 875 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 3.9 seconds, with maximum speed electronically governed at 240 km/h and an estimated range of 777 kilometers. Mechanical enhancements on the M model include an adaptive M suspension, performance tuned steering, and an electronically controlled rear differential lock for sharper cornering stability.
The cabin features the updated BMW Panoramic iDrive software interface. Visual data displays across the panoramic base of the windscreen, supported by a 3D Head Up Display and a 17.9 inch central touchscreen. Standard hardware includes a full glass panoramic roof, 7 interior trim configurations, and automated highway driving software that permits hands free travel at speeds up to 130 km/h in regions with regulatory approval.
