Fujifilm has introduced the instax mini Evo 2, a hybrid instant camera equipped with a 16 MP sensor and an upgraded 4.5 inch touch display. The hardware pairs digital photo selection with traditional instant printing alongside smartphone connectivity. It enters the market priced at $289, with retail availability expected late November.
A 4.5 inch touch screen dominates the rear of the device, offering a resolution of 1.23 million pixels. Users can frame shots, preview captured images prior to printing, crop compositions, and select from 20 creative filters directly on the glass. Light hits a 1/2.77 inch 16 MP CMOS image sensor paired with a 21mm f/2.0 wide angle lens. The system calculates shutter speed and ISO automatically, though photographers can adjust exposure compensation manually. Video recording is also supported at a resolution of 992 x 560.
The camera links directly to smartphones, allowing users to transfer external photos to the hardware for instant physical printing. Internal memory stores up to 45 photos, with expansion available through a microSD card slot. This digital hybrid approach prevents accidental film waste by letting photographers confirm specific images before activating the print mechanism.
