Hela of Mice and Magic Releases PC Demo Ahead of Full Launch

Windup Games and publisher Knights Peak have launched a playable PC demo for Hela of Mice and Magic across Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Xbox PC app. The standalone preview features a custom map set in northern Sweden alongside verified support for Steam Deck hardware. The full adventure arrives on consoles and PC later this year with a day 1 debut on Xbox Game Pass.

Windup Games built a dedicated environment specifically for the demo instead of slicing out a chapter from the main campaign. Players control a small mouse working to restore magical barriers for an ailing witch by collecting resources called Glimmer. Exploration relies on physics interactions and a specialized Froggy backpack that lets the mouse launch to higher ledges and pull environmental objects.

The preview supports both single player progression and local split screen cooperative play for 2 users. Solo players can bypass complex puzzles through the Shade System, which summons phantom duplicates of the mouse to trigger switches and assist with heavy obstacles. The finished game expands across diverse biomes including wetlands, forests, burrows, and open meadows.

Console players will see the full release arrive on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch 2 alongside the PC edition. Subscribers to Xbox Game Pass gain access on day 1 of the commercial release. Retail shelves will also stock a physical boxed release branded as the Harmony Edition.
