Logitech is preparing to remove its legacy Gaming Software utility from its official download portal. The decision impacts owners of older gear who need the application to configure buttons, macros, and sensor sensitivity across aging peripherals. Users must archive the official installer now, as finding clean files will become significantly harder once the utility disappears at the end of the month.
Logitech bases this retirement on hardware lifecycle limits, noting that all compatible devices have passed their warranty periods. The newer G Hub application does not support many of these classic devices. Affected hardware includes the Logitech G13 Gameboard, the G27 racing wheel, alongside legacy mice like the G500s, G700s, and G9x. Without the older software, users lose the ability to reprogram extra buttons, construct macro strings, or adjust sensor DPI values during clean Windows installations.
The hardware will retain core functionality and any profiles already saved to onboard memory. Modifying these settings requires the original configuration tool. Owners should download the official setup package directly from the Logitech support site immediately and store it on external media. Securing a trusted copy now prevents reliance on third party file mirrors that could carry security risks.
