RedMagic 12 Pro+ Launches with 185 Hz OLED and Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6

RedMagic has launched the RedMagic 12 Pro+ gaming smartphone in China, featuring a notchless 185 Hz OLED display and the 2 nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor. The phone includes an internal active cooling fan spinning at 25500 RPM alongside an 8400 mAh battery. Pricing starts at 6999 yuan, while international rollout details have not yet been announced.

The front panel uses a 6.85 inch BOE X11 OLED screen with a resolution of 2688x1216 and a refresh rate of 185 Hz. Touch sampling runs at 500 Hz normally, jumping to 5000 Hz for quick taps. Screen bezels measure 0.96 millimeters, while peak brightness reaches 2000 nits under the control of an independent G1 display chip. A 16 MP front camera sits entirely under the glass to eliminate visual cutouts. Dedicated touch triggers on the right edge operate at a 700 Hz sampling rate for fast control in competitive titles.

RedMagic built the phone around the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor fabricated on a 2 nm node. A companion Red Core R5 chip manages touch response, RGB lights, and auxiliary gaming tasks. The graphics pipeline supports hardware ray tracing in 6 titles, while frame generation and resolution scaling operate across more than 200 games. A native emulator also lets players run PC titles directly on the phone. Thermal management relies on an ICE Magic setup containing a Wind Chaser 5.0 fan spinning at 25500 RPM, a liquid loop with 2 micropumps, a vapor chamber, liquid metal, and graphene layers.

The 8.55 millimeter thick frame holds an 8400 mAh battery supporting 120W wired and 80W wireless fast charging. Users can enable bypass charging to send current straight to the board during long gaming sessions without degrading battery cells. The rear camera module contains a 50 MP optically stabilized main sensor and a 50 MP ultrawide lens with a 120 degree field of view. Physical connections include a 3.5 mm audio jack and stereo speakers, backed by IPX8 water protection and Android 17 with RedMagic OS 12. Retail prices in China sit at 6999 yuan (around $1045) for 12/256GB, 7999 yuan ($1195) for 16/512GB, and 8999 yuan ($1345) for 16GB RAM with 1TB of storage.
