AMD is reportedly shaking things up with its 3D V-cache strategy for Zen 5, releasing the Ryzen 7 9800X3D first, followed by the Ryzen 9 9900X3D and Ryzen 9 9950X3D later.

AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D Rumored for October Launch, Ryzen 9 X3D Models Delayed to 2025

According to a new rumor from Chiphell, the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is set to launch in late October alongside new X870 motherboards. While AMD might tease the Ryzen 9 9900X3D and Ryzen 9 9950X3D at the same time, these CPUs won't be available until sometime next year, potentially after CES 2025. The delay is attributed to "special features" that differentiate them from their predecessors.

Speculation suggests these special features could involve doubling the amount of 3D V-cache for both Ryzen 9 X3D models, leading to significant performance gains and potential price increases. If true, these CPUs could dominate benchmark charts until the release of Zen 6. However, like previous X3D chips, neither SKU is expected to be overclockable.

While this information is based on rumors, it indicates a shift in AMD's approach to releasing its 3D V-cache processors, prioritizing the Ryzen 7 9800X3D for an earlier launch.
