OPPO Find X8 Ultra Durability and Teardown by JerryRigEverything

The initiator behind the well-known Youtube channel 'JerryRigEverything' is Zach Nelson, and the latest device he has for appraisal is an OPPO Find X8 Ultra. Afforded to him was a fully functioning device, but instead of the so-called exciting capabilities and processing power of the device, his main objective was to tell how durable the device is, only for him to take it down and see what it looks inside.

Materials looked good with the OPPO Find X8 Ultra. All metal was the side frame and buttons, which were nice. And that entire screen and that massive camera bump on the back are covered with tempered glass. Zach hardly scratched it with stuff like keys, coins, or even a knife, so pretty good for your pockets and purses.

But then came the infamous bend test, one of the ultimate tests for a smartphone's structural integrity. Here is where things took a turn, however. When trying to bend the phone, a crack formed on the right side, just between the power and volume buttons. There seems to be a weakness in this area due to the plastic insert of the antenna. Nevertheless, the phone continued to work just fine, and Zach could not bend it any further, but he did speculate that its water resistance may have been compromised after that.

The durability tests complete, it was time for the teardown. Zach easily got the OPPO Find X8 Ultra into the innards, and his number one target The cameras. The main one, which is quite massive, is an impressive one-inch main camera sensor. He even went out of his way to dissociate the sensor with the lens to show the sheer dimension of this thing.

Here's a surprise-turnaround: after disassembling and then reassembling the camera module, Zach managed to get the camera to start up. And it even took a snap before freezing. Really quite something after such a radical procedure.

It is interesting to note that OPPO Find X8 Ultra is only available in China; no further confirmation exists about a global release yet. Thus, while these tests are interesting, they create a situation where one wouldn't easily acquire one outside of China at the moment.
