Lenovo Unveils Legion Y700 4th Generation Gaming Tablet

Lenovo has just unveiled the new behemoth, the Legion Y700 4th generation, in China. Elsewhere outside China, keep your back straight, because this monster is so big that it can be sent all over the globe as the Legion Tab Gen 4. And the price at launch in China. A very tempting CNY 3,299 (that's approximately $457).

What's Driving This Gaming Machine.

Having set up anticipation with teasers, Lenovo did not disappoint. This new gaming slate is loaded with some serious hardware. At its heart beats Qualcomm's latest flagship chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite. To keep things snappy, Lenovo has paired it with fast LPDDR5X "Ultra" RAM and quick UFS 4.1 storage.

Worried about overheating while playing for hours on end. Lenovo's got you covered. They're highlighting a powerful 12,000 mm2 VC cooling system inside. Thanks to what they call Center Cooling Architecture 2.0, this setup keeps the tablet cool even when you're pushing it to its limits.

A Display That Demands Attention

The action is where the screen lies, and the new Legion Y700 has benefited well here. We have an 8.8-inch display but now in a higher-resolution 3040x1904 pixels. It is also brighter compared to the previous one at 600 nits as against the previous 400 nits, meaning a more vibrant visual experience.

More Juice for Longer Play

Battery life is crucial when gaming on the go, and Lenovo has made another significant upgrade. The previous model featured a 6,550 mAh battery, but this latest model brings that to a more roomy 7,600 mAh. For gamers, the inclusion of bypass charging is an excellent bonus – charge it up and play without over-working the battery. And when you need to recharge, it's pleased to cope with speedy 68W fast charging.

Tightly Packed Powerhouse

Even with a bigger battery, the Legion Y700 4th generation is still incredibly small. Lenovo claims it's around 6.99mm thin and weighs only 340 grams, so it won't weigh you down.

Some other gamer-friendly features include:

  • Deep colors with 12-bit color depth and high DCI-P3 color coverage.
  • Smoother than silk gaming with a 165Hz refresh rate.
  • Expandable storage through a TF card slot with support up to a whoppng 2TB card.

How Much and What Configurations.

The base model of this Lenovo gaming tablet with 12GB of RAM and 256GB storage costs CNY 3,299 (about $457) in China. For an extra punch and space, the 16GB of RAM and 512GB storage model will set you back CNY 3,799 (about $526).

And for the ultimate handheld experience, Lenovo has also announced a special accessory to turn this tablet into a purpose-built gaming handheld. Stay tuned for more information on that.
